They dropped weight, wrote poems, went Ninja
Readers that are inspiring me by going after their goals in 2025
In January, to launch the year here on my newsletter, I shared how I had a massive life revelation: I needed to stop eating like I’m a teenager.
Discovering that the bowl of cereal Petra and I were in the habit of eating as a “snack” each evening had the same calorie count as a Big Mac was the inciting incident for our change in eating habits. (The adjustment has led to both of us losing over 20 lbs—weight, for the record, we didn’t realize we needed to or even could lose).
Every week since I get a note or have a conversation about it. I love the interaction it’s created.
This week a reader shared with me that they’ve been using the Macro tracking spreadsheet I created and lost 17 lbs. Way to go Laura!
Because of our shift toward higher protein consumption, I researched tactics, and came across the Ninja Creami. A reader helped to convince me it was the right route to go.
Thanks LoveMercy!
How are you doing with your goals?
Our household shift away from Vector (RIP sweet cereal ritual) highlights what Atomic Habits author James Clear highlights as the pathway to changing behaviour: make it obvious, make it attractive, make it easy, and make it satisfying.
We’re six months into the year and I just wanted to see how you’re doing with your 2025 goals?
No matter if you’ve succeeded or failed, or haven’t started quite yet, there’s still time to take steps toward them.
Another thing that’s encouraged me is the response to the poetry contest I ran this year. *NOTE* The poems are with the judges and I’ll share the winners soon.
The heart behind the contest was to encourage others in their craft. I can’t tell you how cool it was to get notes from people all over the world saying that they always wanted to write but were too intimidated to do it, how they took the risk to share their work and words.
I’m grateful for those courageous creative acts. Not everyone will win the top prize. Not every poem will be seen by the world. But the step toward busting through a fear and writing the words down is momentous.
Here’s some things that readers shared as they engaged the interviews I did with the judges and took the leap and went after a creative goal:
Thanks Sue, Timothy, Diary of the Unpoet and Morpho for your comments!
You can, you should, why not?!
Today’s post is a bit of a departure from my weekly article. But perhaps it’s a much-needed jolt.
I wanted to just drop into your inbox and encourage you that you can do it, you should, and why not? There’s still six months in this calendar year to make the first step, adjust, or set up a few habits that will take you to a goal.
Whether it’s something creative, a new hobby, or a health goal, I encourage you to go after it!
I’d love to hear how you’ve gone after a goal this year. Drop a comment below!
