I'm taking a hiatus from my writing schedule
Why I'm making changes to my Substack newsletter
Dear readers,
I’m taking a hiatus from my Substack schedule, and I wanted to let you know in advance. For the last few years I’ve published a weekly article and a weekend link round up. Two things I love to do.
I’ve enjoyed the pace and the output and I’m so grateful for each one of you who reads my work, and especially when you engage with it through comments and emails.
Recently, I asked what type of content readers like you most enjoy and what you think about the frequency. This newsletter is about faith and creativity, and the feedback was encouraging: that’s the writing that resonates most with readers who responded.
Some of you also gave feedback on the output. Respondents were evenly split on frequency: about half liked the twice-a-week post schedule, the other half recommended once a week. The big takeaway was that it’s less about output and more about what engages: you’ll read what hooks you.
I loved this feedback. Thank you so much for it!
While I could continue to keep this pace, there are other writing projects summoning me that will require more of my attention and time. So, I’m taking a hiatus to think deeply about my output and how I spend my morning hours writing.
To start, I’m going to pause my twice-a-week schedule to do a little more listening and get new, refreshed vision for the writing season ahead.
What does that mean for readers?
The archive of my weekly content thus far will still live on Things I Wrote Down, and you can access it at any time.
Less frequency, for now. I still plan to write about faith, creativity, and give updates here, but I’m taking a breath to reevaluate how I show up here and how often.
If you’re paid, that means I’m pausing payments for now. Since I don’t know where this will all land, and since there won’t be as much output, I’ll pause payments.
A note: I’m so grateful for your generosity and investment in my craft. Paid subscriptions have always been about that investment (not a transaction for content).
If you enjoy or need an outlet for that generosity towards me, you can still support my craft through the tip jar.
You’ve been used to me appearing in your inbox twice a week. As that changes for now, I just wanted to let you know why.
Thank you so much for being part of my writing journey. I look forward to continue to connecting with you here, just at a different pace.
