Biden's sleep patterns; Watermelon coolers; Side hustles look so easy
3 Things this week and a poem
We’ve been on vacation as a family, and had a few of those lazy summer days, to quote Eric Liddel, “When this world itself seemed good enough to be eternity.” Perfect weather, kids so sweet, friends and food… simple joys.
No matter where you’re reading this, I’m so grateful you’re spending some of your weekend with Things I Wrote Down. Here’s to more joyful days this summer.
1. Biden’s sleep patterns
Okay, everyone. This is getting out of hand. And it feels dangerous. And sad. And wrong.
All the funny memes, hot takes, whispered conversations among friends aside, the President’s health is no longer ignorable and we all know it. Can you imagine the howling firestorm it must feel like if you’re close to the White House right now? The media coverage from all sides and all platforms has been wild ever since the debate.
I’ve been tuning in on X and after 3 years of denial, media outlets, especially on the Left, are making up for lost time reporting on the President’s health. Here are a few articles that are eye-opening:
NYPost: President Biden’s physician met with Parkinson’s disease specialist in White House
NYTimes editorial board: To Serve His Country, President Biden Should Leave the Race
2. Watermelon coolers
It’s been a few months. Petra and I sat down at the microphone again to record and episode of Mocktail Mashup. We had a great time and a great drink (designed by private chef and food writer

3. Side hustles look so easy
One of the topics I get served up on my phone regularly is about side hustles. We all want one (or have one). And I love stories of success when people pursue a passion or an interest outside of their normal job or career. And then find crazy success.
Entrepreneur features successful ventures. Like the 27-year-old whose shoe reselling idea now makes $500k a month or now this woman launched a luxury personal care company that hit 7 figures in just 6 months.
It all seems so easy! (And like there’s gotta be more to the stories…) I can’t stop reading the articles.
Do you have a side hustle? Share it here! I’d love for readers to know about it and to hear about what you’re doing.
A poem
Speaking of sound minds…
Here’s a short poem from my series of poems God/he. A snapshot of the human mind. In our quest. In our sojourn.
his mind his mind is a paper shredder see how he tears and tatters his own pages wants to leave a memo on the desk of the office manager see if he can pull the damned plug if only to conserve energy ©️ 2024 Andrew Kooman
Thanks for sharing my recipe! I love creating mocktails (and cocktails) using real food!
