I'm releasing a Christmas book; Moonlighting in Babylon; Bigelow goes big.
Weekly link round up with a poem
Thanks for spending some time this weekend with Things I Wrote Down.
Fall always brings a new energy. I've been busy, lately, working behind the scenes on some new projects and also with an aggressive publishing schedule. I've been trying to push myself in 2025 to create and it's such a satisfying feeling.
The school schedule is engrained in my DNA, so September always feels like a start to something. How about for you?
I’d love to know what you’re working on. Whether it’s a story, a renovation, or something else, drop a note!
Here are 3 Things that stood out to me on the web this week, with a poem.
I’m releasing a Christmas book
For close to the last decade I've had the honour of being an author with The Skit Guys. The US drama sensation provides content for churches and makes people laugh in church. My Christmas and Advent content distributed on their site has been enjoyed by tens of thousands of families.
This year I’m bringing some of those stories to homes. I'm so pleased to share the news with my subscribers first:I’m publishing a collection of stories in time for the Advent season. The heart behind this is to support families as they approach Christmas to cultivate wonder in the home.
I’ll share the title, book cover and release date right here, later this week! (I would have done so today, but the latest Canada Post strike is changing my pre-order plans in Canada—so I may just offer pre-order for the ebook).

Moonlighting in Babylon
I’ve just loved connecting with Matt and Dan each day of production. Each morning on set in India for Daniel the Movie they jump on a video update call to share about the shoot.
This week we visited Ancient Israel before the siege of Jerusalem and the Hanging Gardens of Babylon. Unveil has been on an adventure, working towards bringing big films like this to life for the last two decades. It’s exciting to be here with such an important story at such an important time.
The wifi isn’t always perfect, but they’re currently in pretty remote locations on the other side of the world, so we gotta take what we can get! Here are a few fun outtakes:
Join Matt, Dan, Unveil, an amazing cast and crew, and praying people from around the world as the story comes to life!
Bigelow goes big
Wow. This trailer hits.
Kathryn Bigelow, known for films like The Hurt Locker and Zero Dark Thirty has a new film called House of Dynamite. And it looks intense.
I can’t wait to see it. It looks like it’s going straight to the streamers, but I hope it’s going to theatres. Incredible cast. Believable plot. Looks intense!
Poem
Each week I like to share a poem to go along with my link round up.
Today at church I had the honour of getting in the baptismal tank with the pastor and baptizing a young person from our church. Is there a better thing in this life?
This symbol of obedience, responsiveness, the new life, and life by the spirit reminded me of a poem I wrote entitled Pentecost. I’m sharing it here to account for the mystery.
pentecost
he leans
over the world
a child peering
through the
lid of a
33 gallon
fish tank
thrilled
at the
sight
of colour
fingers pressed
against glass
wonder
his communion
with them
watches the
hand on the
clock
the weight of
his heart
heavier in his chest
each second
nearer
to the magic
moment
of transfer
when he will
slip through
the looking
glass
five more weeks
like five (more)
