Happy Easter!
My poem for Easter 2023.
This Easter, I've been reflecting on quiet. On silence. I think we often view silence from God as something negative. Like it’s a rebuke. I'm fascinated by the confidence God must have in his name to allow for silence. How incredible that he doesn't have to fill every moment with sound.
I hope you find time to listen for the silences around you and find something wonderful there.

Vie and clamour
They who are insecure shout the loudest even among the gods. Yet, as the mob howled demanded more than their pound of flesh more than the worst earthly pain: humiliation complete and total rejection, abject suffering blood You were silent. Oh but how you could have howled. Let rage and scorn froth from your mouth, name the shameless hypocrisy, justify your begotten self. Yet, when you did speak from bleeding gums tongue swollen as the whip marks on your back, you whispered words of absolution welcomed us to paradise. This part of your nature, your silence quiets the human soul speaks a better word than all the kingdoms with too small queens and kings who yet vie and clamour.
Epic. Profound. Beautiful. All words that describe both Easter and this poem.
