Big things are happening over at Unveil, the film studio that I co-founded with brothers Matthew and
. The filming of our first biblical epic, Daniel the Movie, is underway. It’s the first in a slate of films about the famous prophet—and other stories from the Bible—that we have vision to bring to life. What a thrill to be at this point in our filmmaking adventure!
As the story comes to life, we’re doing regular production and prayer updates, like this:
You can catch the full updates, usually about 5 mins in length and captured just before a day of shooting on set in India, right here on Unveil’s Substack or over at UnveilTV.
A film that focuses on key moments in ancient Babylon
The film chronicles the first dramatic months of the Jewish exile into Babylon. It follows Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego as they navigate life in exile and the politics of Babylon, including the shrewd power of Nebuchadnezzar.
The story climaxes at the fiery furnace, showing what it means to stand for the truth, even in the face of certain death.
The film stars Mena Massoud, known for his break-out role in Disney’s live-action Aladdin and Elijah Alexander as King Nebuchadnezzar.
Praying along the way
As with all our films, they’re an outworking of our faith and curiosity and they’re fuelled by prayer. Matt and Dan are leading this project so well, and the feat of pulling it off is incredible. Hundreds will work on and invested in the film. We believe millions will see it. But its success will be because thousands of people are praying it to life.
I want to invite you to do the same—join
on this adventure of creativity and faith. What’s coming up
We’ll continue to do regular prayer and production updates as the film is being made. We’ve currently filmed a handful.
At the time of this post, Day 2 is wrapping in India. The film is being made there for a number of reasons, a main one being that the ornate architecture and preserved grandeur of the region can bring the ancient world to life, giving it that beautiful, golden kingdom feel.
In the next few days we’ll drop a free devotional that is a companion to the film, with a few portions of the script and some insights about standing for truth. It’ll be available on Unveil’s Substack or at UnveilTV.
If you’re just learning about the story, there are a lot of exciting details you’ll glean along the way. Like, how one of the biggest names in Christian music, Michael W. Smith, reimagined his famous Awesome God song for the film. Or how the global music sensation Project of Love created a unique song for the film.
I know you’ll enjoy the up-close look of how the project comes to life.
