It's August. You may be drinking cold Bubly at a campsite or eating ice cream in a park.
I'm with you.
But it's also that time of year when Christmas content starts to drop.
As you may know, I’m an official author for US phenomenon known as the Skit Guys. Not many churches do theatre all that frequently, especially here in Canada, but every church does some sort of Christmas program. And it's an honour as a playwright to offer ready-to-produce content for churches across North America.
And believe it or not, now's when Christmas programming starts get locked in.
So I'm here to help your future Yuletide self.
My newest series Cherish the Advent released this week, and it's meaningful content for any church or group seeking Christmas content.
About Cherish the Advent
Experience Christmas through the eyes of well-known Bible characters. The short, humourous skits can can be performed either as a monologues or read as Reader’s Theatre.
The individual skits are:
Big Faith. He was the only person in the crowd of 5000 who came prepared for lunch. In this skit, the boy who famously shared his loaves and fish reveals that Jesus’ Advent is amazing because it multiplies faith.
Deep Love. As a writer, Luke was obsessed with the parables Jesus shared about searching out what’s lost. In this Advent skit, Luke reveals that Jesus’ arrival proves the love of God.
Genuine Peace. He made one of the biggest face palms in biblical history. The man who had no room available at his inn when the God of the universe was born in Bethlehem. The innkeeper shares that God’s genuine peace is available for all, even those who are slow to perceive how God is working out redemption.
Real Hope. Having risked her life to approach King Xerxes, Esther’s story highlights what’s at stake when one approaches a King. Her story helps us see that Christ’s advent is incredible because it makes a way for all people to approach God without fear.
True Freedom. After being set free from evil spirits and the stigma of shame, Mary argues that Advent is amazing because it sets people free.
